Get those bags packed!

As far a preparation goes, we were given list after list to tell us what we could and could not bring... we were given rules for airports, and told to bring particular items while traveling.  The chaperones that were accompanying us had plenty of traveling experience, and past on their plethora of knowledge to us.

Before a game of cards, just chilling in the airport
With passport in hand, and suitcase packed to the rim... we were all on our way to the airport to meet up.  Parents said their goodbyes, and we knew it'd be hard to be away for a week,  but we had been preparing for this moment.  Bags checked, and we were off to wait to board the plane.  Not only was it going to be my first time out of the country, it was also my first time flying!  This was a day of firsts, and a week of firsts.  'nuff said.

Killing time in the airport...
We had boarding passes, our passports, various other types of paperwork, and we were ready to get our fly on!  Boarding was never a problem, we were always prepared, and stayed together as a group.  (For more information as far as the minute details go, take note of my travel journal.)  At the airport, we often had time to kill, so we sat together, toured the airport, and ate some snacks. We usually spent this time bonding, playing cards, taking pictures, reading, chatting, or napping.  Never did we separate or get lost-- we were like one happy NKU family!  So, for all you parents and people who thought it was going to be unsafe for us to visit Mexico... guess what?!  We made it, we never once were in harm's way, and we all had an awesome time!
